What to Expect Your First Session

Your first session will look slightly different than those that follow. We will become acquainted with each other and finish completing any paperwork necessary, and collect payment. Don’t worry about the details. We’ll answer any questions you have and will be able to guide you through any problems that may come up. Therapy is founded on trust and transparency. We are committed to both in all aspects of our work.

Each session will be 60 minutes long. Don’t worry, you do not need to watch the clock.  The first session of therapy is about getting to know one another, feeling comfortable and figuring out why you have decided to seek therapy. You do not have to come prepared in any way. Just bring yourself. We will figure out the rest together!  We will address your expectations and ours in relation to length of treatment, type of treatment, and confidentiality. If you have questions, please feel comfortable to ask those as well!

In sessions that follow, we will create your treatment plan goals (what you want to accomplish during our sessions), and then work on those goals. We will check in regularly regarding where you are at in your treatment plan, and adjust as needed. If you ever feel we need to change directions or address something differently, please say so. We will have an open relationship and communication is essential.
